day 15: chi-town, mobley-style.

ummm, have you ever been to chicago?
if your answer is 'no'... then get on a plane right now and get here.
if your answer is 'yes', then i ask you... have you already planned your next trip back?

yes, it does sound difficult to see all of the fabulousness that chicago has to offer in one day...
and that's why we are staying for most of tomorrow as well!
as fergie says, we just can get enough.

we started our day in milwaukee and made sure to see the pabst mansion (2 guesses who insisted on that drive-by... but you'll only need 1). it was a pretty sweet looking mansion (i mean, nothing like our dream-home mansion in nc... joke's for you, mom) and located on marquette's campus. how inspiring for all of the hopeful college students... pbr's for all!

we arrived in chicago this morning, about 2 hours after we left milwaukee... not too shabby.
oh, well hello there, start of chi-town skyline!

san francisco (and nintendo 64's 'cruisin' usa') prepared me well for driving in chicago downtown traffic...
anyone else remember this made-real-life scene from 'cruisin' usa'?
paul identified it immediately and couldn't let a photo-op as important as this one go by.

after sweet-talking ourselves into another early check-in at the downtown hotel (score!), we took the livs to millennium park for some cooling-off (dude, it's hot in the midwest).

crown fountain cool-ness.

the bean!

the bean, megs, and the livster!

we really liked the bean... can you tell?

... and shortly after our bean photo-shoot... a gentleman on a segway (who appeared to be 'high-riding' member of the local law enforcement team... pun intended) rolled up to us and curtly informed us that dogs were not allowed in the park. not even the cutest dog in the world?, we wondered. his abrupt spin-on-a-dime (still on the segway) dismissal told us 'apparently not.'

sidenote: he also reprimanded well-behaved grown men for sitting on a concrete table.
i mean, really?

anyways, back to chicago...

here are a bunch of eye-catching structures that we spotted while walking around downtown...

we were a part of a take for a news brief!
we merely walked down the sidewalk next to the lady in grey.
emmy award-winning material, i tell ya.

theatre photo for nanny-kins!

this sculpture made me think of my brother and sister...
and i wanted to get myself a box of markers and color inside all of the lines immediately.

famous-ness!

it was $17.50 per person to go up onto the deck of the john hancock observatory... no thank you!
we were able to have the perfect view from the ticket counter...

a something + coal building for my energy-saving husband!

not pictured:
a trip to the crate + barrel flagship store (be still, my heart).
chipotle for lunch (don't judge... it had been 2.5 weeks since my last chipotle fix... it was time).
we spent a bit of time throughout the day helping to tie-up loose ends to keep the home-buying process flowing smoothly (thank you to our amazing realtor, van fletcher, and his assistant, becky... y'all are fabulous!... and thanks to mis padres for getting checks sent around raleigh!).
we walked and walked and walked... so much better than driving... for reals!
we even walked by a street entertainer singing 'i left my heart in san francisco'... tear.

of note: we sweat so much today that we had to shower x 2... did i mention it's hot here?! (it's nice and cool in raleigh, right?) you know you have been married for 5 years when you are constantly updating each other regarding how many sweat drips you just felt run down your back... it's all about the romance, people.

for dinner, we headed to a highly-recommended (by everyone) chicago pizza hot-spot...
giordano's!

after a delicious caprese salad...
paul enjoyed a sausage + pepperoni deep-dish pie!...

and i ordered the italian sausage sandwich sans bread... yum!

i think we would both agree that we are loving the scrumptious edibles on this trip, but our bodies are ready to get back to regular eating... each night seems to end with us telling each other how very entirely full our stomachs are. oh well, it's called a 'vacation' for a reason... no?

livi dog photo of the day:

after a long day of sight-seeing and eating... what's a girl to do but to crash on a comfy hotel bed with her favorite pup? #snuggleliv.

tomorrow, we are headed to the museum of science and industry while livi has a doggy play-date at the local petsmart (we figured we should treat her once in a while, too!). then it's on to starting the trek to louisville. chicago is awesome and it knows it... it's expensive, yo! we are cutting ourselves 1 night short here so we can save a few bucks... so it looks like we'll probably staying in one of indiana's suburbs tomorrow night instead... any suggestions?

safe traveling and much love!
