photo update of day 17!

as a photo wrap-up (addendum to yesterday's post), day 17 included:
a trip through 4 states..
(indiana, kentucky, tennessee, and NORTH CAROLINA!)

paul was super stoked about the kfc 'yum!' center in louisville...

we took an early trip to churchill downs (also where my cousin got engaged!... can't wait to finally attend an annual adams kentucky derby party this spring!)..

quite magnificent...

little liv enjoyed looking through the subaru's window at churchill downs (don't worry, we hopped out and took photos quickly so the wee one wasn't alone in the car for but a couple of minutes)...

barbaro!...

just outside of knoxville, we managed to find ourselves in a 1.5 hour traffic jam by a wreck ahead of us. but have no fear! we spent the time finishing up the 3rd book of the hunger games... oh. my. goodness. if you have read all 3, we need to chat. our minds are blown. and we are still obsessed.

poot looking ahead to see what the traffic jam status was...

with no sign of cars moving, poot decided to put up his feet and enjoy the rest and relaxation alongside of me...

finally out of the traffic jam... and entering rough weather... we made our way to I-40!
everything starting feeling like home...

we drove through pigeon forge... that place is ridiculous and/or awesome... depending on which stage you are at in your life...
check out this indoor water park that we spotted... the ULTIMATE green dragon, tasman!

back in the land of the go-co!

and our FIRST BOJANGLES SPOTTING! (see the orange roof behind the gas station?!)
paul's smile was as wide as tennessee!

hey there, great smoky mountains! we see where you got your name from...

the thunderclouds rolling in... hail included!

we made it to north carolina!!
in awe of the beauty...

elk!

more elk!

livi dog photo of the day:

her first photo in her new home state! it was somewhat emotional and surreal to see her in north carolina... my little pup is finally a tar heel!
it's hard to believe that our little family has made it across the country and will be starting a new chapter in our lives.

we arrived in fletcher (right outside of asheville) at paul's Godparents' house (aunt louie and uncle mike) around 6:30pm. livi enjoyed a great romp around their backyard, and she seems to feel right at home. we had a delicious meal with uncle mike while aunt louie was at choir practice, and then we toured uncle mike's dairy farm (small acres) - surprisingly, i had never been to his farm... so it was a true treat! i can't wait to go back and visit it again our during our stay in asheville. we got back to the homestead right around the time aunt louie did, and we had a wonderful rest of the evening catching up and relaxing.

we will be in asheville until saturday morning so we can soak in some good family time with aunt louie and uncle mike. on saturday, we will travel to randleman, nc (right outside of greensboro) to see our good friends ryan, candice, and their sweet boy abel for the night... we miss them so very much and can't wait to hang out with them!!

we plan to be in raleigh... our final destination... on sunday, july 22nd!
can't believe this trip is winding to a close... but we are loving the opportunity to explore other aspects of our new home state before real-life begins in north carolina in a couple of weeks :).

can't wait to update you on our fun times in asheville later today!

safe traveling and much love!
